Tuesday evening, the City Council will consider a resolution to authorize the restriping of Lakeshore Avenue between Harvard/Winsor Roads and Mandana Boulevard to install a Class II bicycle lane by reducing the travel lanes from four lanes to two lanes and adding a continuous center-turn lane between Harvard/Winsor and Mandana.

The meeting begins at 6 PM in City Hall, 1 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza. [map] This item is item 16 on the agenda. This item will be heard in the part of the meeting for “non-consent” and public-hearing items, which begins with item 13 and will not start until at least 7 PM.

On February 27 the Public Works Committee approved recommendations and directed staff to look into the possibility of lowering the speed limit to 25 miles per hour in the affected areas.

Councilmember Pat Kernighan moved that this item be removed from the consent calendar for the March 6 meeting and placed on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting as a non-consent item. The Council also directed staff to submit a supplementary report addressing the points raised by the community at the February 27 meeting of the Public Works Committee.

There are two staff reports for this item: the agenda report [316K pdf] dated February 27, and a supplemental report [316K pdf] dated March 20 and filed March 15.
