Cleveland Cascade and Oakland Fox both receive major grants

Both Oakland entrants received major grants in the Partners in Preservation San Francisco Bay Area Initiative: the Cleveland Cascade ($50,000) and the Oakland Fox Theater ($75,000).

Cleveland Cascade clings to top-half position. Fox comfortably in third place

As of 8:45 p.m. Monday night, the Cleveland Cascade was clinging to a position in the first half of the field of 25 preservation projects vying for funding in the Partners in Preservation web competition. The Oakland Fox maintained a strong third place.

Cascade rises to 8th place; “preserving your history builds stronger communities”

As of 9 p.m. Friday night, the Cleveland Cascade rose to eighth place and the Oakland Fox maintained its second-place position in the Partners in Preservation web competition. The competition was a topic of this morning’s “Forum” program on KQED-FM, which is available on the web.

The Partners in Preservation competition will be the topic on KQED FM’s “Forum” program Friday morning from 9–10; call-ins are invited. During the day, the Cleveland Cascade dropped from its earlier eighth-place position — to as low as tenth place — and as of 7:45 p.m. is in ninth place. The Oakland Fox remains in a very strong second-place position.

Here we track the rankings of Oakland’s two entries in the Partners in Preservation web competition: the Cleveland Cascade and the Oakland Fox Theater.

Anyone can vote for one preservation project—out of 25 candidates around the Bay Area—once per day until October 31, 2006. The competition was announced September 18.
