It is said that the Golden Era of tile in California was between 1910 and 1940. This Thursday (Valentine’s Day), tile expert Riley Doty and historian Joe Taylor will argue that a second Golden Era of tile is currently underway.
Their lecture will be illustrated by images of significant installations from the Middle Ages to the present and a selection of contemporary and historic art tiles.
The lecture—part of Oakland Heritage Alliance’s Thursday Lecture Series—will be given at 7:30 PM at Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue (map).
The lecture is open to the public. Admission is $10; only $5 for Oakland Heritage Alliance members.
