RE: Campaign Posters
Dear Ms Allison,
Please be advised that the City of Oakland has been contacted concerning the illegal placement of posters advertising your bid for City Council.
Specifically, those posters being placed on MacArthur Boulevard between Beacon and Athol. These posters are being affixed to the freeway fencing, sidewalk areas and the fencing surrounding the vacant lot on the corner of Wesley and MacArthur. All are placed in violation of City Municipal Code 5.06.020 Sections A. 1.2. a. 3.
City of Oakland Public Works Agency was contacted this morning concerning the matter. They have assigned us an incident number of 140726. In doing so, we have been advised that the agency has received similar complaints about your illegal postings in other areas of our district.
It is our understanding that persons from your campaign residing in the apartment building on MacArthur Boulevard adjacent to the vacant lot on the corner of Wesley and MacArthur are the perpetrators. Although these illegally placed posters numbering in the several dozens have been removed before, they continue to resurface. It is extremely disconcerting to think that these illegal activities of your campaign are consuming taxpayer dollars to be corrected.
In closing, several residents and property owners of Haddon Hill are offended in having to view the illegally placed campaign posters in our neighborhood. We have been advised that the Oakland Police Department can and will cite those illegally erecting signs. To do so would be a further waste of taxpayer dollars for violating the Oakland Municipal Code that your campaign agreed to when you received your Candidacy form.
An acknowledgment and favorable resolution of this matter would be very much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Russell Gates
